JCI (Japanese Compulsory Insurance)
JCI is required by the Japanese government. This insurance only covers the minimum insurance for bodily injury or death of the other party for which you are legally liable. It's provided initially when you buy your car or with renewal of your vehicle inspection every two years.
PI (Personal Injury Insurance)
This insurance is mandatory for SOFA personnel. This coverage pays amounts in excess of JCI for bodily injury and death of the other party for which you are legally liable. The driver and passengers are also covered by this insurance. The minimum required coverage is ¥30,000,000
PDI Property Damage Insurance
This is also mandatory for SOFA personnel. This coverage pays for property damage of the other party for which you are legally liable. The minimum required coverage is ¥30,000,000.
